Getting an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when using jQuery Deferred object
I have a method that is being called from one of my user controls. The idea is to call a method that will return a jQuery Deferred object so that we can perform deferred.then() handlers. The method works as expected when called from my form.
Unfortunately, I keep getting an error when I try to use it within a jQuery plugin (the error is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" if that matters). The error seems to be occurring on a line of code within the method that I use to get the Deferred object. Here is the code (myMethod_Result()):

And here is how I am using it in my plugin (Startup()):
